A beach and ocean cleanup were conducted at Beau Vallon yesterday as part of activities to coincide with the passing of the King’s Baton relay in Seychelles ahead of the Commonwealth Games. The activity, which was a collaboration between The Royal Commonwealth Society, The British High Commission, Seychelles Commonwealth Committee and The Ocean Project Seychelles, intended to bring greater awareness to the importance of Clean Oceans on a local and global scale and in parallel celebrate this international sporting event.
The SDF took part in both the beach and underwater cleanup, and helped remove a total of 27.2 kg of litter in under an hour.
The SDF remains committed in helping to protect our natural environment, showing that our service extends beyond just our duty. Through such collaborative efforts, we continue to reaffirm our dedication to environmental stewardship that leads to a cleaner and more sustainable Seychelles.
