Graduation Ceremony of New Recruits and Non-Commissioned Officers Basic Leadership Course – Intake 02/25.
Twenty-six new recruits have joined the Seychelles Defence Forces following 15 weeks of basic military training at the Military Training and Support Centre, Barbarons.


The ceremony was held at the Military Training Support Centre, lle Perseverance in the presence of Chief of Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette, Chief of Staff, Colonel Michael Hollanda, members of the Defence Forces Council, Unit Commanders, Senior Officers, Officers and relatives of the new recruits.
During the same ceremony, a group of Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) from the various units and departments of the SDF graduated from the Basic Leadership Course, marking a significant milestone in their professional development. The course focused on the evolution, relevance, and modernization of military operations in today’s complex global environment. In addition to tactical and technical training, the program placed a strong emphasis on improving leadership skills, communication, mentorship, problem-solving, and decision-making, especially in stressful and challenging situations, preparing graduates to lead their subordinates with confidence and competence.

The best Overall Performer in the leadership course was L/ Cpl Russell Belle from Seychelles Coast Guard.

L/Cpl Jean-Luc Rose from the Military Medical Centre was the best performer in Academic Studies, while L/Cpl Rian Augustin from the Military Training & Support Centre was the best at Practical Studies.


Among the 26 new privates, Private Kenneth Moustache was named Best Overall Performer and Best Performer in Academic Studies, while Private Wallis Sinon received Best Performer in Practical Studies.


In his address, the (CDF) emphasized the importance of leadership and exemplary conduct among Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs).
“You are no longer just those who follow orders; you are now part of the leadership cadre that forms the backbone of the SDF.
As NCOs, you will now lead by example, inspire others through your actions, and support your soldiers with integrity and compassion.
The knowledge, skills, and values you have gained during this course must now guide you in every decision and interaction you make.
During his speech the CDF also thanked the instructors for their contributions and devotion towards the development of the new recruits and NCO’s. The SDF congratulates all graduates and wish them all the best in their careers.
